It was a dark and windy night

Hi all,
We lost electrical power at almost exactly 12:01am Friday and got it back at almost exactly 12:01pm Saturday - 36 hours. The winds were over 50 miles per hour much of the Thursday evening / Friday morning. The company which is repairing our house roof sent people out to tack down the tarps (which were quite loose). The temperatures were around freezing both nights. We put the dairy products from the fridge on the porch overnight to cool them down because the fridge was not cool. The freezer un-thawed a couple packs of meat so we cooked them just now.

I am so glad we switched to Qwest phone the week before because we could at least call around to see how people were. Because many of them have portable phones (the ones that use a base) we could only get to their message boxes so wound up driving anyway.

We have it easy compared to some who will probably have power restored during the coming week.

The Kerosun heater worked well. We used it at most every other hour during the afternoon Friday and this morning. We cooked dinner and breakfast. It twice brought a teapot to a boil in 50 minutes.

We hope you are well and safe,
Dad/Bob and Mom/Judith
