Un-chuck engine
Dear Grandchildren and friends,
The Dealership charged me $657.00 to turn the check-engine light off. I tried to find a generic turner-off-er but could not so, while I was renewing my driver's license at the last possible moment I noticed The Dealership and stopped in. "Yes" they had an opening on the shop floor! "Yes" they could do the recall (for free) and diagnose the light, both today. Can you hear the "Twilight Zone" music faintly in the background?
So I went for a 1.5 hour walk. When I came back I found out for a mere $100 (palm?) reading that my ERG valve (excessive gas regurgatation?) was bad. And, because I drive only 4-miles each way to the park-n-ride, I had lots of carbon in the system - a problem they could fix for a mere $139. The ERG valve would be $300 or so. And, they could take me home and bring me back for free (at least I would not have to watch another minute of Maurey).
On the way home I remembered I had not done my semi-annual oil change. "Yes" they would be glad to do that for a mere $33 and it included... - just do it and don't bother me with the facts.
Now it runs like a charmed engine. And the survey lady was really nice. And I gave a great report for The Dealership. And I agreed to fill out The Corporate survey when it came.
All this in exchange for one day of vacation... Such a deal?
Love forever, G'pa Bob

We had to replace the ERG valve on the purple Saturn. It was billowing out huge clouds of exhaust and getting horrible gas mileage. For something as simple as a valve, it really did turn out to be an expensive repair. :/
