Toothbrushes
Good morning Grandchildren (and friends)!!
Toothbrushes are very important in our lives. Used well, they can contribute to our physical and social health. Long ago people used a toothpick like instrument (frayed at the end instead of pointed) to clean their teeth. Today we have the simple (and expensive) toothbrush. People are sure more pleasant to be around when they have clean gums and tongue, don't you think. And your dentist really would rather not peel and scrape your gums (which is what happens if you frequently leave food next to them).
Several years ago I decided to not throw my toothbrush away when I got a new one (from the dentist). This idea originated from my Sweetheart who recommends keeping two. Well, i'mmmmm from Texas and if two is good then ten is better. I now have eight.
The reason that I decided not to throw them away is, of course, financial (isn't everything financial with a dad?). I have found that with eight, each one is used very little so lasts a long time. Of the eight, the oldest will be thrown away soon as it is quite frayed and may be doing very little for my gums. However, the newer ones are barley worn!! Imagine how they will last when I have 10.
By the way, I keep my toothbrushes in "The Canadian cup", a long-ago gift from a beloved child........
A problem I had with keeping them in a cup was that the slobber ran down the handles and into the cup and the cup became gross after awhile. I have started putting a paper tissue in the bottom and I can throw that away without having to clean the gross out of the bottom of the cup!!
Hope this makes dating and visiting the dentist more fun for you.
Love, G'pa Bob
