Monday - Family
Titus 1:1-2, Genesis 12:3, John 3:16, John 17:3
"[I], a servant of God, and...of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, [who] can not lie, promised before the world began;"
"..in thee [through thy seed Jesus Christ] shall all the families of the earth be blessed."
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou has sent."
More dangerous than being a fireman, more helpful than being a police man, more exciting than being an astronaut, more fun than being a river-rafting guide, requiring more perfect balance than a high-wire walker; the role of grandfather is. I admire my son, my sons-in-law, and my sons-in-love as they perform the daily acts of love, compassion, rescue, discipline, and guidance so necessary for their family to thrive. Just as the greater light rules the day and the lesser light rules the night, being a father is a 24-hour opportunity to serve.
To serve their children where present and to serve their sweetheart always. The skills and character that we as fathers and grandfathers develop as we help our sweethearts become all that they can be will help us be all that we can be.
Love,
G'pa Bob
